Classics by the covers
Dry week for blogging, really. But just a few design sightings. Anyone who has gone to any commercial bookstore the past years might have noticed how design firms and publishers have placed an effort to redesign our great classics.
While walking through a lane of books, I noticed several covers of Jane Austen's Emma are displayed on the same shelf. One literary masterpiece, several publishers, different design treatments. And readers are expected to choose? Talk about not judging a book by its cover. But if this would encourage a return of readers to the classics, by all means, we shall support!
